ABOUT CROWN THE NATION

A coaching practice
built on the work.

Crown the Nation is a private coaching team founded in 2021 and led by Juven Nava and Annika Wooton. We work with a small group of competitors each season across the Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Volunteer America systems.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Confidence is built on preparation.

Crown the Nation was built on a belief that has only sharpened with time. The competitors who win at the highest level are the ones who treat preparation as the actual work — the women who arrive at every session ready to dig in, who study the system they are competing in, and who take real care with the parts of the process that no one sees from the audience. Our role is to help our clients see the strategy clearly, walk them through the preparation that will actually move the needle, and stand alongside them as they build the kind of work that produces titleholders.

We coach across systems, but our approach is the same in every room. We believe our clients are intelligent women who deserve direct, thoughtful feedback. We believe in telling them the truth about what is working and what needs more time. We believe the work between sessions is where the real growth happens, and our job is to make sure that work is pointed in the right direction. The competitors who thrive with us treat their pageant year the way an athlete treats a season — with deliberate planning, with repetition that builds muscle memory, and with a willingness to stretch into discomfort in service of the goal.

The pageant industry has plenty of voices telling competitors that confidence and authenticity are enough on their own. We believe in both, deeply, and we also believe a crown is a real outcome with real mechanics behind it. Our work is to coach the mechanics — patiently and specifically — until the preparation is solid enough for confidence to stand on.

HOW WE WORK

Three principles that shape every interaction.

Strategy First

Every interaction begins with understanding the system, the timeline, the competition, and the competitor in front of us. We coach the strategy that fits the room she is walking into, shaped specifically to her goals and the system rewarding her work.

Voice Preserved

Our role is to sharpen who our clients already are, so the woman who walks across the stage is the same woman who walked into our first session — only more prepared, more focused, and more clearly herself. Authenticity is foundational to the strategy, and protecting our clients' voices runs through every layer of the work.

Standards Held

We give direct, honest feedback because that is what produces titleholders, and we deliver it with the same care we hope our clients bring to the work itself. Our coaching partnership runs in both directions — we ask our clients to show up prepared, and we hold ourselves to the same standard in return.

THE TEAM

Coached by working professionals.

Crown the Nation is led by two coaches with active careers in performance, education, non-profits, and the pageant industry. Each client has access to the full team, with specialists brought in as the work requires.

Juven Nava

Founder of Crown the Nation · Career educator and coach
Specializes in interview strategy and performance coaching

Juven Nava founded Crown the Nation in 2021 with a vision for a coaching practice that took the strategic side of pageantry as seriously as the personal side. With a background in education and a long-standing presence in the pageant community, Juven brings both rigor and warmth to his work with clients.

His coaching focuses on interview preparation, performance presence, and the strategic decisions that shape a competitor's full body of work. He has guided clients through state titles, national placements, and award wins across the Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Volunteer America systems, and he is known for the directness and clarity he brings to every session.

Annika Wooton

Miss Kansas 2019 & 2020 · Miss America Top 15
Quality of Life Award · Non-Finalist Talent Award
Internationally touring speed painter

Annika Wooton is a former Miss Kansas (2019 and 2020), a Top 15 finalist at Miss America, and the first speed painter in the competition's history to make finals. Her placement launched a national wave of pageant speed painters in the years that followed, and she remains the only pageant coach in the country who specializes in developing speed painting as a competition talent.

Outside of Crown the Nation, Annika is an internationally touring live speed painter performing at corporate conferences, arena halftime shows, and brand events from Madison Square Garden to Malta. Her professional stage career runs in parallel with her coaching practice, which keeps her in the rooms she is teaching her clients to command. She brings a working performer's eye to interview, paperwork, talent, and stage presence, with particular depth in CSI and platform development.

Jeffrey Hubbel, LMSW

Licensed Master Social Worker
Specializing in performance mindset and pageant-specific mental preparation

Jeffrey Hubbell is a Licensed Master Social Worker who works alongside Crown the Nation clients on the mental side of competition — the parts of preparation that happen before, during, and after the stage. His sessions focus on managing pressure, building confidence under scrutiny, and developing the mental discipline that sustained competitors rely on across a full season.

Jeffrey is brought into engagements as the work requires, and many of our highest-touch clients meet with him alongside their coaching calls. His approach is grounded in clinical training and adapted specifically for the unique demands of pageant competition.

OUR NETWORK

Specialists, brought in as the work requires.

Beyond the core team, Crown the Nation maintains relationships with stylists, talent coaches, photographers, and former titleholders we trust. When a client's preparation calls for specialized expertise outside our practice, we bring in the right collaborator and integrate their work into the larger strategy.

A FEW OF OUR QUEENS

Women we have had the honor of working alongside.

A selection of competitors whose preparation we have been part of, across systems and across the country.
